Everything was going along great. We all had our routines. The days of the week fly by! My parent's, Mike and Barbara are always doing something. A meeting to go to, shopping to do, (I can't go in the car and sit because it gets too hot, or also someone might try to steal me), so sometimes I am at home by myself. That's OK cause then I can sleep on the den couch with my feet up in the air and enjoy a quiet time.
A few weeks ago they decided to go on some kind of a trip. They had never had done this before so I didn't know the routine. I was not prepared for more than one day. Well it started out fine except Tamy, my owner for a day, had three little yappy dogs there with me. It was awful! I waited for Barbara and Mike to come and get me, but they didn't show up. Where could they be? Are they giving me away and not coming back? These are my desperate doggie thoughts. I got very worried. A lot of days went by and I soon got very unhappy and felt sick. I stopped drinking water and stopped eating. I just wanted my parents back. Had Barbara given me away and was this the end of me? The sunny world just swirled around my head and I wanted to die.
At last a familiar car was there, and Mike and Barbara returned. Was it really them? I was so sick I couldn't even respond to their soft words. Several days went by and I tried to see around me but everything was blurry and all my energy was gone. I couldn't stand up. They were very worried. tears on their cheeks, and took me to the Vet. They said, "We were prepared for the bad news." Dr. Jerry said my temperature was OK and also my blood was normal, so they were all encouraged that I might recover. He said, "I think it is a case of extreme anxiety." Back at home another day went by. Everything didn't smell good. Finally I tried some water and then gradually some small bits of food. The one thing that woke me up was a piece of crispy bacon. Wow I was going to be OK.
My Mistress told me later, that on that first night back, when I was still so sick, they kept feeling for my heart beat throughout the night to make sure I was still alive.
Barbara and Mike, please stay at home with me and don't leave me ever again. This is all for now. Remember I am twelve and a half: I am an OG just like Barbara.
